I love Detective Dave Burrows he is such a fabulous character and this is another awesome story, Dave is still struggling with what has happened with his wife Mel and now the lawyers have told him he is still not allowed to see his daughters for fear of the danger he will put them in, he sets his mind to work and when he is called to investigate missing sheep with partner Bob Holden a trip to the bush is just what he needs, only they uncover more than they were looking for.

Bob and Dave arrive in the far north near Carnavon and start their investigation, first stop Double M station were the report of missing sheep has come from, they also say that wild dogs have been seen, from here they travel to Corbett Station Stay, this place has a tourist stop where caravans can stay and they also have cabins for hire, Dave and Bob settle themselves into the cabins and plan their investigation.

The missing sheep are put on hold when a body is discovered on the beach by a couple of backpackers who work at the stay station, they are able to get forensic pathologist Shannon with a pilot to arrive and help with the body, which brings Dave some happiness they have always had a close friendship and this may go further, except there is a terrible storm and another body and drugs turn up. The storm has cut them off and with no help arriving soon Dave and Bob have a lot to do.

This is a book that I could barely put down, Dave is in his early days and getting to know him better is so good and Bob as well he is a fabulous mentor for Dave and together they make a formidable team when they investigate the mystery of the bodies and the drugs in this beautiful part of Western Australia. I loved seeing Dave find some happiness after what he has been through and all I can stay is that this is a must read story one that I would highly recommend, Fleur McDonald brings out the best in her characters and always with a great mystery to uncover, I look forward to her next book.

My thanks to Allen & Unwin for my coy to read and review
